Halloween!

Well I say this is the title but to be fair we've done nothing to celebrate Halloween other than give a few sweets away to the local needy and noisy kids!
Well its all doom and gloom with the nights drawing in and cold weather on the way, time to get my hat out methinks. Although the silly puppy dog is still happy to plunge into the chilly river and have a good swim!
Now trying to get a toddler to wear a hat, well is impossible. She almost got the hint when dressing her doll who quite happily sat there and got a hat on, but no babyboo just doesn't do hats. I have a cunning plan to stop her losing the gloves though - good old elastic. Have to find the sewing kit out though first!
Have a very sorry puppy dog tonight, she cut her paw on her walk and now is looking ever so sad with her little bandage on!
Oh well a rather uneventful Halloween, time for some fireworks methinks!

So now very much have a toddler toddling about all over the place but thank god she is finally sleeping through the night! woohoo, makes such a difference!
So we've had a lovely but exhausting weekend. Went to the farm at Chatsworth yesterday as very excited that she's started saying words like cat, dog, moo, sheep (well I really hope its sheep!). I don't think I'm ever going to be a super mum but I can't believe what some 'chavtastic' mums let their offspring get up to. So there's kids chasing after poor chickens and prodding little lambs in the face and no one to stop them - oh my word they should be ashamed! I really can't get over how some people can't be bothered with their kids, its crazy. rant over!
So then today we went swimming, oh the fun, although the giant connect 4 on the side of the pool was the babies fave thing! Oh and took the dog for a big old swim although then the baby wanted to go in the water! Such is life..............................

Long time no blog!

Sorry for the break in blogging! We've been developing a new website www.mypetbubble.com. If you fancy have a look and let us know what you think! Still in its early stages but hoping to get it looking better with a few more substantial articles.

Anyhow otherwise we now have a very mobile walking/talking (well gabbling!) baby. How quickly they change now,  she's tearing around the place and there's no stopping her!

My daughter bought up by Wolves/Wolf!

Ha! So apart from the usual dad dad dad's and vague attempts at mum, baby was struggling to get her words out. That was until yesterday when I heard a definite 'mama'! This was so great to hear but the context wasn't right at all; we had just come back from the shops, when opening the door and seeing the dog she produced the word! So dog is mum, excellent!

On its own I wouldn't be too worried but she spends many a time crawling around with socks in her mouth just like the dog, they share toys and yesterday I found her using the dog to climb up onto the sofa. The relationship is definitely mutual and the dog loves to sit next to baby during feeding time as it rains food!

Oh well at least she's unlikely to suffer allergies as she grows up and the dog'l be never short of a game or too!

Summer holiday

So we went away for our holiday which was I have to say the most tiring, yet lovely holiday I've had. Unfortunately for some reason bambino decided to wake up at five every morning and I have to say looking back I think it was just a lack of blackout curtains! big error!

Oh well we had lots of fun, managed a few days on the North Yorkshire beaches and had an amazing time at the sea life centre- definitely great for babies- she just loved watching all the fish and seals, being able to get so close was great. We had a small but functional cottage on a site with a swimming pool which was again an easy way to tire her out! - She enjoyed it much more when there were other children playing there. We went on a boat although she wasn't that excited by it but dad was and her favourite thing was finding a rock pool to crawl into and sit in even though it was freezing cold!

Now I do understand why when people with kids go away they take the grandparents with them!

A long week!

So glad to finally be sat down and having five minutes to myself after a frantic week. I was asked to work an extra day this week and so did a four day week and then weekend on call. Wow how hard it is to do just that extra day! Definitely think a 3day week is max for a working mum! Oh well can't moan all helps pay the mortgage!

On a positive its baby boo's birthday this week and I can't wait. Its amazing how many cards and packages have turned up in the post! So exciting! - How sad that I can remember not being able to watch Britain's got talent final last year when I was in the early and truly vomit inducing stages of labour!!

Well we have another slight problem, by no means a big problem, in fact a very small problem, in the guise of a mouse, or two! Well I can't call myself an avid gardener but we do have a very overgrown, slightly out of control strawberry patch. I did wonder why next doors slightly fat cat had suddenly taken an interest to sitting on the fence looking at my green (not yet ripening) strawberries. Well it turns out they have attracted the local mouse population and fat cat just isn't able to jump down off the fence and scare them away (I even put a chair out to help give it a step down!)

Oh well I'm sure we have enough to share around!

The great sock mystery!

Since having a baby of my own I now realise the truth about why socks and dummies end up in dogs tummies..........

I have spent many a morning surgery removing socks and such things (once a whole pillow) from dogs bellies. I always wondered how this could be so, did people not have wash baskets? Did they not feed the dog?

Today I was back in the same situation, trying to make a dog vomit up a sock, as the owner calmly said that this was the third one it had stolen that week! Fortunately just as she said so out came a bright pink/slightly green piece of cloth, great no surgery today!

The truth is I'm sitting here now, Labrador at foot and can count several baby socks on the floor around me. Its not that I'm lazy, we do tidy up and the washer is on as I speak, but socks are just, well there.

Fortunately apart from carrying them around in her mouth (as quite worryingly baby-boo has started doing too!) my dog doesn't seem to have a taste for them.

So what can we do to stop these great sock/occasionally pair of knicker thieves? Its not that a deterrent spray would work because lets face it thats naturally in-built, especially with husbands socks! Or perhaps the smell is just part of the attraction!

I don't know, I'm not even going to suggest being more organised and putting things away because life gets too much in the way of that!

Anyhow it gives us Vets a laugh when we get to play guess the foreign body!

(I've heard of worse things being removed!)
