The great sock mystery!

Since having a baby of my own I now realise the truth about why socks and dummies end up in dogs tummies..........

I have spent many a morning surgery removing socks and such things (once a whole pillow) from dogs bellies. I always wondered how this could be so, did people not have wash baskets? Did they not feed the dog?

Today I was back in the same situation, trying to make a dog vomit up a sock, as the owner calmly said that this was the third one it had stolen that week! Fortunately just as she said so out came a bright pink/slightly green piece of cloth, great no surgery today!

The truth is I'm sitting here now, Labrador at foot and can count several baby socks on the floor around me. Its not that I'm lazy, we do tidy up and the washer is on as I speak, but socks are just, well there.

Fortunately apart from carrying them around in her mouth (as quite worryingly baby-boo has started doing too!) my dog doesn't seem to have a taste for them.

So what can we do to stop these great sock/occasionally pair of knicker thieves? Its not that a deterrent spray would work because lets face it thats naturally in-built, especially with husbands socks! Or perhaps the smell is just part of the attraction!

I don't know, I'm not even going to suggest being more organised and putting things away because life gets too much in the way of that!

Anyhow it gives us Vets a laugh when we get to play guess the foreign body!

(I've heard of worse things being removed!)

What did you get your child for their first birthday?

Its nearly baby boo's first birthday and from seeing what her friends mums' have bought their children I think we may be being a bit tight. Its not that we wouldn't give her the world if we could but she's only one and her birthday will surely pass her by like any other day!

For example one of her friends had an expensive Trike, a plastic car and a trampoline. Which is fine but surely a bit too much? The other thing is where would you put it all when they get bored and want the next thing!

So what have we got? Well we went to a well known toy shop with vouchers in hand and spent £20 on a basic trike that will fold up so we can put it in the buggy. We gave her a quick try and she seemed to like it so fingers crossed it'll be a hit!.... Also it should last her until she's 3 so bargain!

Don't get me wrong I can't wait for the birthday and celebrations, trying to figure out what cake to make etc etc, but I just don't think she needs that much so young.

I thought it was going to be a sunny day!

So its been a very long day! Baby/wanna be toddler wouldn't settle last night so there was lots of too-ing and fro-ing to the cot in the wee hours! Anyhow cause of problem discovered, top two teeth errupting-how exciting, now she can bite us even harder!

Really lazy day, perhaps how Sundays should be. Lazy does have a slightly different meaning these days! Mustn't complain though.

Went for a very wet dog walk, saw the ducklings in the river, will have to try and get a photo and post it tomorrow, so cute!  Also managed to packaway baby clothes that she's outgrown, can't believe how many we've already been through.

Oh well all is quiet and baby settled. Administered some magic teething medicine so hoping for a quiet night. One day she'll sleep through for more than two consecutive days, very jealous of mums with babies that sleep well!

Well that was all a bit random but therapeutic blogging today!

First Shoes!

How exciting (well as exciting as Saturday shopping gets!) First pair of shoes for a bruising, cruising baby and she thinks they're fab! Its amazing what you can get done in a day when you are woken at the crack of dawn and someone doesn't fancy a lie in!

Welcome

Hey welcome to my blog!

Well here's a bit about me and my life.

I would like to call myself pretty ordinary but hey what's that! I'm a newbie mum and just about getting to grips with it. I say newbie, baby boo is nearly a year but hey how fast time flies!

I spend 4 days a week washing nappies, trying to make baby food (and generally failing),  going to playgroups, baby singing groups (absolute craziness but hey!) and trying to be a domestic godess and then spend the other 3 days holidaying at work as a Vet.

Yeh I have to say it although sleep deprived I think I have a pretty good work-work balance! Baby absolutely loves nursery and it does help her sleep and I get a bit of mental stimulation at work, and get to play with cute puppies all day (well that's what people seem to think I do so wont disappoint!)

Oh there's just 2 others to mention, hubby, Mr C and our infamous ginger labrador who has quite taken to spending hours sitting under the highchair waiting for food to fall from the sky!

Anyhow first blog and don't want to bore! Watch this space.............................
